Essence of the Communion

What is Stewardship?

This is the work to which every member of a church is called into – from the Leader to the servant. No one is exempted.

Now, what is required is performance and not neglect.

It is like a cycle, it goes like this

INDIVIDUAL

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Growth in an individual life brings about growth in a family – The growth of a family reflects in the band that the members of the family belong to, the growth of the band will affect the growth level of the church – Daniel 5: 14.

            Also, if an individual in a family is giving the whole family sleepless nights, the individual as well as the family will not experience any growth and the impact of such individual and family won’t be felt in the church.

            So, every individual that is called into stewardship is expected to desire growth, because this will bring about growth in the church.

Growth does not come to or wait for any man; it is always on the move, only those that desire it experience it.

What does growth mean?

Growth means change in stature, nature, thought and size, so anybody that wants to perform his/her stewardship successfully must be ready for ‘Change’.

For instance, “Change we need” was the keyword of the American President, Obama when he was campaigning for the presidency and he won, because Americans were expecting a change in their situation despite their growth level compared to other countries of the world.                  

Now talking about the essence of Communion, this is not talking about the Holy Communion that we observe as Christians, but the ability of all performing stewards to function together as members of one body.

Paul the Apostle talked about the “…communion of the Holy Ghost” – 2^nd Corinthians 13: 14, talking about the effectiveness of the trinity when they work together, so this is what it means when I talked about the essence of communion – we, as stewards in the house of God must learn to function together in order to increase the growth level of the members of the church.

Finally, growth in the church reflects in all areas of life: Financial, Spiritual, Academicals, employment wise, emotional, psychological etc. – as it affects an individual in the church, it goes a long way to affect the church as a whole.
